Compendium of Curiosities, Week 9!

Challenge 9: Distress Crackle
Sponsored by Eclectic Paperie!

As each week of this series comes to a close, I think I've seen the most wonderful, Tim-inspired art possible, and that it couldn't possibly get any better. And then, it does! I hope you guys are having as much fun creating as I am admiring what you create!

So, let's do it again! Please open your Compendium of Curiosities to page 42, for the Distress Crackle Technique!

You'll note that Tim used both a tinted crackle paint and the clear Rock Candy Crackle in his tutorial, and I've used both in my example above. It's not required that you do this in order to be eligible to win this week's prize, however. As long as you use at least one jar of Distress Crackle Paint, you're good to go!

Speaking of prizes, we have another great one this week! Our dear friend Daisy from Eclectic Paperie is offering a $25 shopping spree to the randomly-selected winner of Challenge 9! Just think of those new Tim products hitting the shelves right now... !

To be eligible to win the Eclectic Paperie gift certificate, simply create your own work of art using Distress Crackle and link it here using the InLinkz button at the end of this post. And of course, keep in mind these Two Simple Rules to be eligible to win: Follow the technique as it's written in the Compendium (with your own personal flair!), and, out of fairness to Tim, don't post the instructions on your blog!

And, as always, the wonderful Gloria, List Mom at the All Things Tim group at Yahoo, will also send a special present to one lucky member who adds their creation to the Compendium of Curiosities album at the group's home page. Please be sure to tag your photo "CCC #9" when you upload it there. And, if you're not a member, it's high time you joined the fun!

Okay, let's get cracked up! This challenge is open until 11:59 PM (MDT) next Sunday, August 15. I'm looking forward to seeing how your rock this paint!

Big Hugs,
Linda

Your card is Great!! Now, I meant to do this sooner, in anticipation of crackle; but does anyone know how to loosen up their paints? I've had a few jars since they came out; and they have gotten really thick...can they be reconstituted with water?

Hels Sheridan said...

WOW, I love this.. and I LOL'd at your sentiment, so cute! I am sat here with a tag .. and my Mojo has decided to go on holiday!! Help!! Will try to get back soon... promise xx

Ooh, and answering Kim's Q.. all my paints went thick, so I spritzed water in, mixed them up to the right consistency.. and yep.. the crackle still :O))

Hi Linda! I LOVE the piece you created here. I really like the crackle on the kitty. I used to try and use crackle medium on acrylic paintings but it never really worked right. Maybe this is easier to use? In any event, I really like what you did! Theresa

Hey, that cat was over at my house the other day. Does Penelope have a twin?
I came over here from Gingersnap to say I love your take on the Paint challenge. I immediately saw your talented hand in it, even before I saw your name. Sweet.

Another fabulous challenge, with fantastic inspiration as always (love that little crackled kitty!!). Glad I caught the "conversation" up there between Kim and Hels - my crackle paints are very thick now, too - glad to see you can add water and they still crackle! This was tons of fun. :)

OK Linda, it's been bothering me all week: where did you get Penelope? I've been looking everywhere for a good cat die for my new machine.

Tianne said...

Mines is done and uploaded but sadly the technique is not showing up so well on the photo. Not the fault of the technique but my photography skills LOL

This was my first attempt at this series of challenges. Question-Is there really any difference in Distressed Crackle and Crackle that has been distressed?
